GENERAL INFORMATION
SOAS Students
SOAS students are invited to register on our waiting list for any last minute places that may become available due to cancellations. Any student who has already applied this year and has not received an offer will need to re-register on our waiting list to still be considered for a place in our residences. This waiting list runs throughout the academic year and is for any student whose application was unsuccessful, or any student who needs to apply for accommodation after the start of the academic year.
Other Students (UAL, CITY , LSE)
Your University Accommodation Office maintains an accommodation waiting list so you will need to register with them if you are interested in our residences.
How do I register?
All applicants must re-register to be placed on the waiting list, including those who have previously applied for accommodation.
Who is eligible?
Any student enroled full-time in a study course at SOAS is eligible to register on the waiting list. Proof of enrolment will be required and details will be verifed with the SOAS Registry. Priority will be given to students new to SOAS and those coming from outside London and the UK.
What happens next?
After registration we will keep your details on the waiting list for 14 days, or 14 days from the date you require a room if later. After 14 days you will need to contact the accommodation services office to re-register for the waiting list, otherwise we will assume that you have found accommodation and your details will be removed from the waiting list.
If a place becomes available it will be offered to the next eligible person on the waiting list. An offer of a room will only last 24 hours after which time the room will be offered to the next eligible person on the list.
If you accept an offer you will be asked to pay a deposit within the 24 hour period You will also be required to pay a first instalment of the Licence Fees before the start of the Licence. Keys cannot be issued unless the required payment, normally the remaining proportion of the current term instalment fee, is received in full. The place will be offered from a specific Licence start date from which time the Licence fees will be charged.
Although there may be a few places available at the start of the academic year due to cancellations and non-arrivals, we will not know how many places until at least one week after the start of term. If there are any places available atthe start of the academic year priority will be given to new students, students from outside London and in particular students coming to London from outside the UK.
More places become available throughout the year when, for example, a student wishes to leave the residence early or to discontinue studies. If a room does become available it will be offered to the next eligible person on the waiting list.
