How to apply
image of application leaflet

SOAS students apply using our online application form. To access our online form you will need the serial number from an accommodation leaflet issued by SOAS Admissions Office. All new students who have accepted a study place at SOAS are sent a leaflet by the SOAS Admissions Office from February onwards. Continuing and returning students may pick up a leaflet from the SOAS Admissions Office directly.

If you have the leaflet and serial number click on the 'Apply Now' button on our soas page.

When the academic year starts we stop taking applications but students can register on our waiting list for any places that may become available throughout the year.

When to Apply

Our online application form is available from 1st March 2008.

SOAS Continuing students (those currently enroled and continuing on the same programme in 2007/2008) must apply before 31st March 2008.

SOAS Returning students (those currently or previously enroled and starting a different study programme in 2008/2009) must apply before 30th June 2008.

SOAS New students have no deadline BUT every year we receive more applications than we have places so early application is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment

SOAS Clearing Students
A number of rooms are reserved for students entering SOAS through UCAS clearing in September. After submission of a clearing entry form the SOAS Admissions Office will provide details of how to apply for these with their academic offer.

Questions?

What if I haven't received an accommodation leaflet?
Don't Panic! Every new student who accepts a study place at SOAS will be sent an accommodation leaflet from February onwards. If you have not received a leaflet by June you may contact the SOAS Admissions Office.

What if I am on holiday / abroad when SOAS send out the leaflets?
Notify the SOAS Admissions Office in advance and give them an alternative address to send mail to.

When will I know the outcome of my application?
We will send you confirmation of your application by email and let you know the dates when you should check your email to see if you have been made an offer. The first round of offers is normally made at the beginning of July.

What are my chances of getting a place?
Generally new students who apply before the end of June are likely to be offered in the first round in July, but it depends on the number of applications we receive.

A second round of offers is normally made in August for places still available due to missed deadlines or cancelled applications.

A limited number of places are available to continuing and returning students and also for late applications from students entering SOAS through clearing.

See SECTION TWO - Our offer process for more information on our selection criteria.

What if my application is unsuccessful?
If your application is unsuccessful we will notify you and advise you on the other options available to you for finding student accommodation in London. More information is given in SECTION TWO - Our offer process.

Can I apply more than once?
Unfortunately due to the high demand for accommodation only one application per student is allowed.

Can I defer my application?
No, our application process is renewed every year. You would need to re-apply the following year.

What if I have special accommodation requirements?
If you have a disability that may affect your choice of accommodation you should contact the SOAS Disability Officer for confidential help and advice. more details...
