Don Gratton House opened in September 2004 and is one of our newest residences. It is conveniently located near to Aldgate East underground station and there are bus links for easy reach of the University of Arts London campuses.

For the safety and security of residents Don Gratton House has an entry card system, 24-hour reception desk and CCTV cameras in and around the building.

Facilities include a common room with TV and vending machines. For added convenience there is and on-site launderette and bike storage facilities.

Since 1st July 2007 all of our residences operate a No Smoking policy throughout the buildings in line with the new UK Government legistlation.

Rooms are arranged in cluster flats of between six and seven bedrooms. Each flat is self-contained and only the residents sharing the flat have an entry key.

Within the flat is a shared kitchen and dining area which is fully fitted with cooker, fridge, sink, a microwave oven and a freezer. Ample storage space is provided and each resident has their own lockable food storage cupboard. The kitchen and communal corridor are cleaned on a weekly basis. A vacuum cleaner is provided so residents can clean their own rooms.

The rooms are study bedrooms, each with its own en-suite shower, toilet and basin. A bed, desk, chair, bookcase, wardrobe and drawers are provided and there are electrical sockets for residents to use their own computer, reading lamp, radio etc. There is a telephone point and an internet point for a broadband internet service.

Residents have an individual key to their room. Bed linen is not supplied but is available for purchase at the residence office or from the nearby market and shops.

The rooms vary slightly in size and shape but are generally around 4 metres by 3 metres. The windows are approximately 104cm by 133cm. The bed and mattress provided are a standard single size of 2metres by 90 centimeters.

Don Gratton House is located near to the East London mosque which is the religous and cultural centre for many of the local community. There is a vibrant atmosphere in this part of East London with some of the most renowned restaurants and bars in nearby Brick Lane. Brick Lane also plays host to a large street market on Sundays which draws crowds of bargin-hunters from all over London. Definately worth a visit!

The nearest underground station to Don Gratton House is Aldgate East, which is serviced by the District and Hammersmith lines.

Mail: Residents have a key to the letter mailbox for their flat. Parcels are signed for by residence staff.

Heating: There are electrical heaters in each study bedroom and storage heating in communal areas. Heating is included in the rent.

Hot water: A central boiler provides hot water throughout the building. This is included in the rent.

Laundry: A communal self-service laundry is provided with washing machines and dryers.

Things to bring with you: bedding(duvet, sheets, pillows),television, kettle, kitchen equipment (pots, pans, plates, cutlery) computer, towels.

Insurance: A block halls insurance cover is provided by Cover4Students.com. This is included in the rent price. Additional cover is also available for a separate fee.
